The long drought significantly dried up the waters of the Tisza, and giant sandbars and islands emerged from under the water near Szeged. It was only thanks to the dam that the water level did not drop below 80 cm, which was a record low level. As we reported, in August the river was already passable in some sections of the Tisza.
The water level of the Tisza reached 100 centimetres near Szeged this afternoon and is expected to rise further, however, according to the forecasts, the water level will remain low.
Péter Kozák, the director of the Lower Tisza Region Water Directorate, said that despite the rainy weather, there is no need to be afraid of the danger of flooding in Csongrád-Csanád County.
There were no major price surges in the Alsó-Tisza water system, so there is no need to order preparedness.
The expert added that
the current situation is the same as the low water level corresponding to the period, so according to the forecasts, we still do not have to worry about the river flooding.
(btw. the Danube in Bratislava reached max. 956 cm (https://www.facebook.com/shmu.sk/posts/ ... mbed_POST)
