(without corrections yet)

2 CAMERA

The black stork (lat. Ciconia nigra) is similar in size to the white stork, but unlike it, it is a rare and timid bird. It avoids the neighborhood of people and chooses to live in large and moist old forests with marshes and other bodies of water, where it can fish all spring and summer and thus feed its young. In total, about 480-720 pairs breed in Latvia. In this nest, stacked on the branch of an old oak, storks have been nesting for more than two decades. The transition period lasts about 30 days, and the storks, if everything goes well, stay in the nest for two months. There are also house owls in the neighborhood of this nest, which we will point the camera at from time to time and see how they live.

male is shortly singing again and again, his tail feahers are fanned (and he is moving the nest material)

Image

male flies out (09.15) and at 09.16 is back - now he is singing very intensively

Not gonna lie, the Black Storks returned to their nest, stacked on an old oak branch, right next to the trunk this morning. A few days ago, the common swamp was still measuring their home, apparently it was happy to have found a good spot, but today the nest is already in the care of its rightful owners. Now we just need to relax after a long trip (usually storks winter in Central and West Africa), clean up the house and the transition period lasting a little more than a month will begin. We will report about everything more than once.
