- the average time between the first flight from the nest and the start of migration was 21 days

For long-distance migrants, such as BSs, the period before the start of migration has a crucial influence on the condition of the bird and may affect the survival rate of migrating birds.

najstarsze młode opuściły gniazdo tuż po nakarmieniu przez #Królewicza, co może świadczyć, że ptaki są w doskonałej kondycji i same (dość wcześnie) podjęły decyzję o wyruszeniu w świat. Wystartowały tuż po 9:45, więc przy ładnej pogodzie miały szanse na prądy wznoszące i poszybowanie 
daleko od rodzinnego gniazda. Dlatego już tu raczej nie wrócą. Samica #Skierka zniknęła dwa dni wcześniej i pojawiła się w znanych sobie żerowiskach koło Środy Wielkopolskiej prawie 100 km na SE. W gnieździe pozostał jeszcze na noc tylko jeden najmłodszy #Kontakt.
Beautiful story of FIVE black storks in Bolewice comes to an end. Yesterday at 81 days old, FOUR the oldest chicks left the nest just after being fed by Królewicz, which can indicate that the birds are in excellent condition and made the decision (quite early) to go out into the world on their own. They took off just after 9:45, so in the nice weather they had a chance for rising currents and landing away from the family nest. That's why they probably won't come back here. Female Skierka disappeared two days earlier and appeared in the well-known feeding place near Środa Wielkopolska almost 100 km SE. There is only one left in the nest for the night the youngest Contact.

To było już OSTATNIE karmienie ostatniego najmłodszego bociana w Bolewicach. #Kontakt wrócił poprzedniego dnia, czekał i czekał zupełnie sam, ale dopiero wczoraj rano dostał od #Królewicza zaledwie 3 ryby. Wyraźnie wygłodniały młody, po nakarmieniu odleciał (w 80 dniu życia) i NA SZCZĘŚCIE już nie wrócił do gniazda, bo samiec też się tu więcej nie pokazał. Od wczoraj gniazdo jest puste. Także #Skierka rozpoczęła wędrówkę (dokładnie w tym samym czasie kiedy pozostała CZWÓRKA młodych opuściła gniazdo) i poleciała 134 km na SE w Dolinę Baryczy koło Żmigrodu. Niestety nie dowiemy się czy młode poleciały za samicą. Dzięki obrączkom jest mała szansa, że któryś z nich zostanie gdzieś na trasie zauważony i "odczytany". Dziękujemy

This was the LAST feeding of the last youngest stork in Bolewice. #Contact returned the previous day, waited and waited all alone, but only yesterday morning he got only 3 fish from #Królewicz. The young were clearly starving, after feeding he flew away (at 80 days of age) and LUCKILY he didn't return to the nest, because the male didn't show up here either. The nest is empty since yesterday. #Skierka also started a hike (exactly at the same time when the other FOUR young ones left the nest) and flew 134 km SE in the Baryczy Valley near Zmigrod. Unfortunately, we won't know if the young ones flew after the female. Thanks to the rings, there is a slight chance that one of them will be noticed and "read" somewhere on the route. Thank you # Komitet Ochrony Orłów for the great effort of preparing and running this online broadcast straight from the forest and the opportunity to upload the clips. Thank you also Nadleśnictwo Bolewice, Lasy Państwowe for helping to remove the failure and taking care of this post. We wish the whole stork family high flights and spare cranes.
