A male black stork from the northern part of Pärnumaa. Born in 2011, 10 km from the current nest. 2022 fledged three chicks. The autumn migration starts on August 12. Kergu winters in northwestern Ethiopia. 2023 arrived on April 19, but remained single. The nest life could be observed via a web camera.

Kergu got ring in 2011 by Raivo Endrekson as a chick in a nest 8-9 km away from his current nest location.
He was caught and fitted with a transmitter in 2022. This was somewhat a special event because no previously ringed adult had been caught yet. Kergu's ring nr is 7047. In the season 2022 he had 3 well-fed chicks who all fledged.
Kergu is a location name - Kergu nature protection area where the stork is from.

Spring migration 2024
The autumn migration stops in mid-February and the spring migration continues from the following day, the 15th = the bird map is set for spring migration and the new distance measurement starts from 15.02. However, the birdmap is sometimes ready a week or two later.
Our storks appear on the map continuously when they reach areas with GSM coverage after starting their journey north.

Kergu started on 08.03 from Ethiopia. He crossed the Gulf of Suez on 14.03, the Gulf of Iskenderun on 17.03. The Sea of Marmara Kergu crossed via Dardanelles on 25.03. On his streamed nest in Pärnu county Kergu arrived on 19.04 at 20.02.
