The reason for and purpose of the protection is to preserve the characteristic appearance of the Tisza floodplain, the backwaters, reeds, floodplain forests and the natural flora and fauna of these habitats (with special regard to the oak-ashlar-woodland forest in the area), and to ensure undisturbed nesting and feeding areas and migration of protected birds.
